ADM8628 product review 1. product overview 1.1 overview the ADM8628 access point is an arm7tdm i-bas ed networking dev i ce that brid ges the w i reless lan and the fast ethernet. the ADM8628 im ple m ents the iee e 802.11b w i reless lan mac ap m ode protocol, the ieee 802.3 fast ethernet protocol and ph y layer, and bridging function. for the enhanced security specified in ieee 802.11i, the aes en gine with several operation modes (aes-ocb-128, aes-cbc and aes-cnt) are provided. w e p, tkip hardware engines are also provided to parse packet s, executing the encryption and decryption process autom a tically w h en key is hit in key table without bothering cpu. there are f our shared keys and 64 individual keys stored in the asic. more keys can be supported in software level as a superset of asic keys. the ADM8628 also reserves the w i reless lan mac station m o de to m a ke itself as a pure bridging device fr om lan to wireless lan to be media converter. different configurations of flash, sd ram and sram devices are allow e d for different applications. the cache controll er supports flexible policy to optim ize perform a nce and m i ni m i ze cpu bus traffic. the mii interface is sup ported for custom ers? a pplications. this in terface can b e also set to reve rsed -mii to conn ect switch?s mii in terfac e for m o re lan ports? applications. admtek inc. 2 ADM8628 could be treated as a network proces sor to cooperate with som e external devices v i a sram interface. .com .com .com .com 4 .com u datasheet
